The Tired Gardener

Healing Through Growing

About me

Who am I? How did I come to be ill and how have I recovered enough to be writing these pages?

I begin deliberately with a picture of myself as a child, blissfully happy helping my granny in her garden. As an adult it is so easy to get caught up with the needs of other people, your children, parents, partner, friends, that looking after yourself falls off the bottom of the 'to do' list. For some of us we are pulled in so deep that its hard to either to think of what we would like for ourselves, or to recognise the signs that our body is struggling.

I find it enormously helpful to step outside of myself as wife, mother, daughter etc and to remember that this happy little girl is still inside me and needs lots of love and fun! I've done this often enough now that sometimes she pops up when I least expect it to give me a poke to remind me that she's there.

I'll be adding more to the story of this little girl soon, but for now, you will have to read between the lines as I focus on developing other pages.

My illness has meant that I have had to give up my work and so I am now looking to find a new career through my writing.
